I have owned a lot of businesses – restaurants, cafes and organic food store. In business you find it hard to replicate yourself. I wanted to find a medium of food that would be easy to replicate but still be good quality food and attract repeat clientele. The pizza industry ticked a lot of these boxes for me. It is easy to manage and run and quite a popular food choice. I was able to look at another quality pizza brand (Pizza Capers) and found ways that I could improve on the model by making my business more hands on, more in store cooking.
I have three stores (Brisbane – Belmont, Sunshine Coast – Karana Downs and Dalby) and I am about to sell a licence so that they can operate under our brand as well.
The sale of this licence actually came about through my connections with Bartercard. The new licensee will be using Bartercard within their business and the sale of this license will allow for us to expand our brand and generate passive income.
We use Bartercard wherever we can, as much as physically possible, we use Bartercard. We use it for signage, printing, graphic design, uniforms, pest control, fruit and vegetables, solicitors, accounting and for my telephone. In fact changing from my old supplier to a Bartercard member that offers phone systems and bill payment on Bartercard has saved me over $1000 per month. This is a great saving on just one part of our business.
The best purchase that we had on Bartercard was the phone systems.
We don’t use Bartercard for personal, it is all used within the business.
We look forward to purchasing property in the future.
We use the online directory and trade co-ordinators as they can do a lot of the leg work. As we get better at using Bartercard we will be a lot more self sufficient.
I would absolutely recommend Bartercard to other businesses as it’s another way of making income. It’s a solid network of like minded people that are all in business for the right reasons and they all understand the benefits of being in Bartercard.

The benefits in Bartercard is that we never really paying full price as the dollars that we earn in Bartercard only have a 30% cost to us. You are purchasing at the costs of your own goods, that cost can be somewhere between 20 and 25% so it makes your dollar go quite a long way.
Bartercard is effective as it is another marketing arm for our business. The network in Bartercard is full of proactive people that are looking to buy and sell and Bartercard are helping all the businesses to work together.
We gain business through Bartercard by email, We did a launch that involved Bartercard members, it was great for them to see what we do as they are now spreading the word about our new store. When we open our next store we will do the same thing. Word of mouth is a powerful tool.
