Our Bartercard business comes from members all across South East Queensland. Each month we bill roughly $10,000 in Bartercard sales. We don’t have a problem spending the Trade Dollars and I think people who don’t know how to spend Bartercard, don’t work hard enough at trying!
The networking opportunities and the word of mouth advertising were the two main reasons we originally joined Bartercard. We’ve found that when we do a job on Bartercard, that happy customer then tells ten other people about us which generates a lot of extra cash business for us.
If we didn’t have Bartercard we wouldn’t have the stock we currently have. One major cash savings for us is being able to purchase grinding disks, welding wire and welding gloves on Bartercard. We have a supplier in Perth who ships bulk orders. Our staff are kitted out with work boots, work clothes and ear plugs on Bartercard which we get branded with our logo etc. This helps us maintain a professional image and presences. We also purchase hats and pens on Bartercard which we give away to our customers.
Whenever I get a chance I’ll change my supplier to a Bartercard supplier for example the printer who produces my docket and invoice books. I always inform our Trade Co-ordinator of a good trader. That way they’re able to recommend that particular supplier onto another Bartercard member. To me, that’s the way to make the system works well for everyone.
I don’t buy anything that isn’t on Bartercard and we don’t dine anywhere that isn’t in Bartercard! I even go to the cinema on Bartercard! Each month a girlfriend and I go to a hair salon, we have a ball. After which we go for lunch and to the cinema. I pay for mine and my girlfriend’s hair treatments on Bartercard and she buys me lunch and a cinema entry. So technically, I go to the movies on Bartercard!
