I think Bartercard is a good union, a partnership to be involved in. Bartercard exposes us to different markets to gain new business. It’s not a big percentage of our business but it’s an important part of our business.
If I can get it on trade, I do. We’ve incorporated Bartercard into all the areas of our business, the spa, accommodation and restaurant. Our regular purchases include advertising, office supplies, furnishings, and bedding, and commercial equipment, even food supplies and wine for our restaurant. In the past we’ve bought a company car as well as a couple of investment properties on Bartercard, one in Victoria and one in New South Wales. This is something we’ll definitely look to do again in the future as it’s a fantastic utilisation of our Trade Dollars.
Our staff treat every Bartercard customer the same as a cash customer. They realise the value of the extra business and appreciates the extra income greatly as we make full use of our Bartercard Trade Dollars to reward them at Christmas time. Previously we’ve bought Christmas hampers, restaurant vouchers or weekend’s accommodation packages. One year we held our Christmas party on a paddle steamer. It was fantastic to be able to offer our staff a completely different way to celebrate Christmas and to pay for it on trade!
As a long-standing member of Bartercard, we’ve very appreciative of the efforts Bartercard goes to in order to stamp out rogue traders. We prefer to trade with members who trade within the rules of Bartercard; ones who don’t overprice and charge 100% trade.
